Red Dresses Galore!

But boy am I exhausted!!! I have definitely done my fair share of working out this week and my body (well in need of it) is complaining a bit. I am tired and sore, but did have a great time. I don't know the full count but I think there were somewhere around 40-50 people there, all in bright red dresses. We went to all the various bars downtown (well almost all). I skipped the beer because A) I was driving and B) it was too hot, water is better. :)

Official Business

The Save-the-Dates are mailed out!! I got the magnets yesterday, so Tom and I went and picked out envelopes and then sat in front of the TV, watched Lie to Me and got them all ready (minus the stamps). Put the stamps on and TADA they are now in the mailbox! Very exciting, the official word is officially in the mail, on its official way to the official few! :)

We also got to go to a surprise birthday party for our friend Eric (Happy Birthday Eric!!) at Pump It Up!. Designed for kids, but GREAT for adults. We had an absolute blast AND got a great work out :) Although, we probably killed any burned calories on the cake after...oh well! It was great fun, even if we do pay for it tomorrow. :)

Tomorrow is also the Annual Bakersfield Hash House Harriers Red Dress Run! All the local hashers will be in red dresses, bar hopping (yes, men too). I am planning on going, we already got Tom a great dress (I am using his from last year). It should be a ball! For those curious, go to the link before and come join us tomorrow at 6:30 pm :) If you're not local, there should be a group near you too! :)

Lady in Red,
Amy :)

Details over details^2

I LOVE the details! I am currently trying to figure those out for the wedding. We have all the big stuff taken care of (well, just about), but there are number of little things that are still negotiable, shall we say. :) For those of you who know me, you know I love research (seriously, I do). However, I was neglected the creative gene. So, this process of researching creative details is proving to be both fun and exhausting. :) But through it all I am finding some great deals on awesome things!

Like a tub/bucket for the sodas (acehardware.com). Fill it with ice and soda (remove the sticker), badda bing, badda boom. What do you think?
...and colored floating candles for the pool. I like the morning glory for purple...but can't decide if i like the square or circle white ones...what do you think (amazon.com & craftedcandles.com)? Square will match the plates/cake/etc., but still seems a bit off...

Oh and how could I forget to show you what my dear, sweet, AMAZING Tom did for me today...He had flowers, a beautiful (and fragrant) bouquet, delivered to my office. It was incredibly sweet and I love them (him too)!

They are just so vibrant and beautiful. Just another reminder of how lucky I am to have found Tom. :)

Twitterpated,
Amy :)

A Purse is a Purse of Course

But not just any purse...these purses have a purpose! A function! A potential life-saving capacity! That is right folks, these are my new CCW purses. Each can conceal my handgun (now that I can legally carry). The front one (smaller with the white stiching) can carry my handgun, and possibly a spare magazine, plus normal purse items. The larger one can, in addition to the other, carry my pink handcuffs (don't let the cute color fool you, these things mean business), a tactical flashlight, plus some! Although, it is also more bulky and less cute (I think, don't you?)! Anyway, if you couldn't tell, I'm pretty excited about them! So, if I'm carrying one of these, you can bet I'm also carrying something else and rest at ease. :-D

On a less pleasant note, I'm currently building up all the documents and information to file for my deposit back from the Castaic house I rented. The nice side, is that I know I will win, but I would rather they just gave me the deposit back without all this work and effort. I will keep you updated as that progresses along.

One Carrying Fool,
Amy :)

All that is new

Well, I am done housesitting. It was quite the successful event, no major issues or problems and Bonnie was happily reunited with her owner. :) I also got paid nicely, which was a great bonus. My PG&E deposit remainder also arrived (it only took 2.5 months)! Mo' Money, Mo' Money, Mo' Money! lol and one last (although, not least) bonus: I got my CCW permit finally!!! Yay :D

It is nice to be getting back into my regular routine at the house, although I still have unpacking to do (why is it so much harder to unpack than to pack? lol

Also, a couple of my good friends Aaron and Dotty got engaged this weekend and I would like to send a Woot Woot their way! Congratulations guys :)

It's the End of the World as we Know it...

Okay, so not really. It is more like the end of the weekend, but close enough right? :-D  It was a nice, fairly mellow Father's Day. We were able to spend time with my parents this morning (Tom cooked an awesome breakfast), stop by Bob & Audrey's for about 20 minutes, and have dinner and a movie (Prince of Persia) with Tom's folks. We even squeezed in time to pack and clean up my stuff at the Congers, and I got to take a nap. Yay for Sundays!

Tomorrow is another grindstone/meeting Monday which I hope flies by! I will be picking up Kevin from the airport and Tom will be enjoying a night of Hashing. It should be fun!

OH! How could I forget?! My dad invited Tom to go on a 3 day deep-sea fishing excursion with him. Totally did not see that coming. Anyway, as much as dad won't admit it, this is a pretty clear sign that he likes Tom. Otherwise, I don't think he'd be willing to use his money to be stuck around someone for that long. Hopefully Tom can handle the silence during the car and boat ride. I'm glad he has such great social skills and also hoping dad doesn't mind talk radio. The bummer, that means Tom will be gone for the 4th of July, which means...I need to find new plans! Any ideas? :-p

Missing Tom Already,
Amy :)

Funk

So, for those that watched Glee (well, I just watched it today, but it aired at least 2 weeks ago), I feel like today felt their episode. Do you ever have one of those days, that by all measures should be a great, happy day, and yet you still just feel grumpy/down in a funk? Today was one of those...Sigh. Tom and I delivered engagement photos to mom, had breakfast, and have been hanging out at his house for most of the day. But I just feel grumpy.

To top it off, Tom and I got in a little tiff over Glee. Probably didn't help that I had been testy all day.

At least during the funk, I found this site: Smarty Had a Party which has all sorts of fantastic linens, plates, etc. that look nice and fancy, but are disposable and inexpensive. Perfect!! I get to have my cake and eat it too!

Anyway, even with the nice day, I'm still "off". Anyone have any good tips for breaking the funk so I can actually enjoy the rest of my day?

Oddly Off,
Amy  :-/

Yay for great deals!

So, since we now have our fabulous engagement photos...I decided to order our Save the Dates. I went through, edited the photos (those posted here are pre-editing), and ordered them. I got 50 very cute Save the Date magnets, shipped for $25. I just love the internet sometimes! If they had matching invitations, I might have ordered those at the same time. But alas, they didn't, so, we'll have to do some more looking.

On another very exciting note...the AC at Tom's is fixed!! The repairman was awesome, he was half the cost of other places, warrantied the work, and did a great job. :)

I would also like to give a woot woot to my cousin Natalie for her prize winning blog! You can go check it out here: Blonde at Heart Go Natalie!!! :D

AC

Yay! The AC unit at Tom's will be fixed tomorrow! We can resume life as usual (well at least by Monday when Kevin returns). For this I am VERY grateful!

On another, unrelated note...I decided to test out Neutrogena's spray on tan. I will be sure to let you know how it works (or doesn't). I am so ghostly white, I am hoping this will help to add some color so I don't scare people anymore when I wear shorts. :-p

Also, it is just about the weekend. Another YAY from me! Tom and I are hoping to fix the thermostat in his truck. I also want to edit the photos and print some for mom.

What are your plans this weekend? :)

Is it Friday yet?

Ever notice how it is barely Monday and all you can think about is wishing it was Friday?! Well, I sure do! It isn't like I don't enjoy my job, because I love my job. But I just love my weekends that much more! It used to be because I could just sit around, play video games, and stay in my PJs all day. And now, that rarely happens. Tom and I are usually running to and fro doing errands, hanging out with friends, parents, etc. But they are somehow still "mine", and I greatly enjoy that. Also, this weekend ends the housesitting gig. As much as I've enjoyed Bonnie, I will enjoy having my bed back and not having to drive back and forth (or have Tom drive back and forth) to see each other. :D

That is all the random thoughts I have for today. I hope you have a great week and that Friday comes soon!

Wishing for the Weekend,
Amy :)

Engagement Photos!

As promised!

This one is Tom's favorite...I agree, it is one of the few where he was really smiling :)

Not one of Tom's favorites, but I like it. It was one of those unplanned shots :)

Amazing how small he makes my hands look...:D

hehe another one of our faves...It is "us" :)

One of the top faves from friends I think...

lol a goofy one for the laughs :)

Well, that is all for now, I need to go do laundry! Chat to you soon

Speedy weekends gone by

Why is it that weekends always seem to go so much faster than weekdays. *sigh* At least it was an awesome (illness free) weekend! Saturday we spent most of the day at Tom's parents house. Tom built them a planter in t backyard out of cinderblocks (quite heavy, I might add) and I set up a drip-line for his mom's plants. Both projects got done and I think his parents appreciated the assistance. After is when the fun started!

Tom had earlier "won" Wine Fest tickets from a local radio AM talk show host (who I think was really just trying to get him to stop arguing with him). lol Either way, they were free tickets to an awesome event, which we thoroughly enjoyed on Saturday night. My parents also attended so we spent some of the time wandering with them, but mostly just enjoying ourselves and wandering into other random friends. I, unlike usual, drank too much! Although, I did have a ball, and Tom was safely my driver so it all turned out just fine and dandy (no hangover even).

Today, I got to see my long time friends Beth and Jim Linder. Jim is being deployed to Iraq in July, so it was nice to be able to catch up with them both before he leaves (they are stationed in OK).

It really has been a very nice weekend, full of fun times with family and friends. I also think I got a bit more of a tan helping out his mom...yay! But, it is now 10:30 and I need to go to bed so I can be awake tomorrow! Sweet dreams everyone!

Tuesday Lull

I don't know what it was about today, but man was I dragging! I have been going to bed at a decent time, but I could hardly get up this morning. And then, I had somehow convinced myself it was Wednesday...oops! lol So, I decided it was a good idea to take a nap when I got home, and it sure did help. I still find it funny how as kids we fought nap time like it was cruel and unusual punishment, and now...I treasure my napping opportunities. If only I had appreciated them then! :D

Overall though, while mostly unproductive, it was a nice day. I was able to enjoy lunch with my hunk of a man and did dinner with him and his folks. We went to the new Bob's Big Boy in town. I most surely was not impressed. Although, in their defense, I ordered healthier items, which really doesn't seem their specialty. Either way, I don't think Tom and I will be frequenting the establishment.

Not a Big Fan of Bob,
Amy :)

Slacking...I know!

Okay, allow me to apologize for my slacking over this last week...I have no good excuse. I will try to be more diligent in the future and i hope my delay did not make me lose you as a reader. :)

So, what has been going on? Not a whole lot, other than the usual work, hanging out with Tom, and housesitting.  Although, we did take some engagement photos yesterday. Which I thought was a total blast (Tom doesn't completely share my sentiments, but was a good sport none the less). One of Tim's friends has volunteered to help him with our wedding photos and also was excited to do the engagement shoot. So we all went out to a few location and took a number of shots. I haven't seen them yet, and can hardly wait! She tells me they should be ready for me at the end of the week. I'll be sure to post some up when I get them :D

In other wedding news, we got the quote from House of Flowers and it was higher while leaving out part of the actual centerpieces. So, that just sealed the deal. We are definitely going with Flower Bar. We are scheduled to meet with them on Thursday to sign the contract/give our deposit. I am excited to have this piece done (for those who remember how nervous the flowers made me - See http://rabbitamy.blogspot.com/2010/05/all-at-onceim-in-love.html).

I think that is most the big pieces...so, I think i'll go relax and continue cooling off (summer has definitely arrived) until it is time to go to hash. :)

Hope to see you soon!
Amy :)

Talker to Chatter

Last night (after my novel of a blog) I realized that I am much more willing to type than I am to talk. When I was younger I think it would of definitely been the other way around. So, I have to wonder what changed. In conversation, I have been told I am too concise/not a good small talker. But on here it seems I can't get away with anything less than a chapter from a book! I am grateful to you all for your patience in reading my blogs (although, in all fairness, the title kind of warned you), but still wonder why it is so much easier to be a conversationalist when it's on a keyboard, than in real life conversation (or perhaps it is just easier for me to converse with myself...)! Either way, I am thankful for your patience and that this venue exists for sharing some of the thoughts that float in my mind. :)

In other news, my mom and I met with the House of Flowers folks. We were not nearly as impressed as we were with FlowerBar, but we will wait for the quote tomorrow (although, I think we'll end up with FlowerBar either way). Although, at least one good thing came of the visit; we got a few more referrals to other services we'll need for the wedding to check out. Hopefully that will work out for us in finding the right vendors. :)

Tonight was also nice as far as getting "in" with the "in-laws". Tom has been over there helping them prepare for some extended concrete/patio work, so I joined them for some El Pollo Loco. This is not that out of the ordinary, we seem to do this about weekly. However, today, while the boys were out fetching supplies and food, his mom spoke with me differently. It was like she was orienting me to being "one of the kids", to "our" bathroom, how food supplies, and other things in the house work. It was different and quite unexpected, but nice to know she at least likes me. I have a feeling that will be WAY beneficial during our marriage. I think we are both lucky to have fairly normal in-laws that we can each get along with. I have heard so many horror stories, it is nice to know (at least for now) that is one problem we won't have to worry about!

Well, I am off to go show Bonnie (the dog) some attention. I will catch you all later!

In-Like-Flynn,
Amy :)
